Keeler: Deion Sanders has CU Buffs legend Chauncey Billups dreaming big. “It’s fun to be a Buff right now.”

Word of warning if you texted Chauncey Billups last fall to talk trash about his 1-11 CU Buffs: Mr. Big Shot keeps his receipts.“It’s fun to be a Buff right now. And we’ve had some tough years there,” the CU great, Denver hoops icon and current Portland Trail Blazers coach told me before his annual Porter-Billups Leadership Academy Gala at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center.“I mean, a year ago, every Saturday — every Saturday — I’m hiding, I’m ducking phone calls, because I know I don’t want to hear this (expletive)-talking from all my friends. So those times are over. It’s fun to be a Buff right now.”In just eight months, CU’s gone from a 10th losing non-pandemic football season out of 11 to hiring the hottest name in the college game in Deion Sanders, to kicking it old-school again by rejoining the new-look Big 12.“I think it’s going to be cool,” the 46-year-old Billups said with a grin when asked about the Buffs’ switch from the...

It was a tough series. We faced some really good pitching.”Bochy said the Rangers’ batters expanded the strike zone “more than what we had been doing. Just shows you that we were maybe a little anxious, a little amped up. We’ve got to get back to who we are.”...

Crawford connected for a solo homer and the Mariners beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0 on Sunday.“What a trade. He has changed the whole demeanor around our pitching staff,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said. “He’s the rock, he’s who we lean on and he showed up today.”The Mariners took two of three games in the weekend series, improving to 54-51 for the season as the team’s front office tries to decide whether to be buyers, sellers, or do nothing as Tuesday’s trade deadline approaches. Traffic-related deaths climb in Aurora, statewide

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 17:48:41 GMT

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) -- New data shows traffic deaths are trending up in Aurora and statewide. So far this year, Joe Moylan of the Aurora Police Department said they’ve recorded 42 traffic-related deaths in the city, just eight shy of their total in 2022. Starting soon you’ll have to move over for these cars “Being at 42 this year is obviously concerning considering we’ve got five months left in the year,” Moylan said.  In Aurora, he said the top three causes are speed, intoxication and seatbelt use.  "The vast majority of fatal traffic crashes are preventable, so just paying attention to the road and the people around you, your risk drops a lot,” Moylan said. In 2022, the Colorado Department of Transportation recorded the highest number of deaths on state roads following a previous record-high year. CDOT reported 736 deaths on Colorado roads in 2022 and 672 deaths in 2021, the most deaths since 2001. “During the summer months we see more traffic-related fatali...

Camp Spark aims to ignite girls’ interest in firefighting West Metro firefighter Michael Worcester has fought wildland fires in several western states. He told FOX31 that recent storms have provided much-needed moisture, but abundant rainfall can also increase fire danger because it boosts the growth of brush.“As things dry out then the fire danger becomes more concerning, there’s more fuel to burn,” said Worcester.Worcester told FOX31 that the National Inter-Agency and Geographic Area Coordination Centers decide if and when out-of-state firefighters need to be sent across state lines to assist other crews.“Ultimately all the resources available for wildland firefighting are considered...
