ASPEN, Colo. (KDVR) - A skier was killed in an avalanche outside Aspen Highlands, Colorado, on Sunday afternoon a day after authorities recovered the body of another avalanche victim, authorities said.According to the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office, three skiers were caught in Sunday's avalanche, which occurred in the Maroon Bowl area of Highland Peak, outside the ski boundary of Aspen Highlands. Two others were able to escape, and rescue teams were working to get them out of the area. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center said, "Maroon Bowl is a steep northwest-facing slope in the near treeline elevation band. The avalanche broke about 200 feet wide and ran approximately 5,000 vertical feet."No further details about the victim were immediately available. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Hundreds are expected to attend a rally Monday afternoon at the Texas Capitol, where they'll push for bills protecting the LGBTQ community and criticize the dozens of proposed restrictions now under consideration. The event, which begins at 12 p.m. on the south steps of the statehouse, is billed as the "All in for Equality Advocacy Day." Organizers include Equality Texas, the Transgender Education Network of Texas, the Texas Freedom Network, the ACLU of Texas, Lambda Legal and the Human Rights Campaign. TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Troy man was sentenced on Monday to 20 years in prison for killing his brother. Jatae Gourrier-Lewis pleaded not guilty to the charges in March 2022. Xylazine, also called “Tranq,” is a sedative commonly used as a tranquilizer for large animals. The drug is resistant to naloxone and increases the risk of an overdose when combined with other drugs like fentanyl and heroin. An Aurora dentist ordered arsenic and cyanide days before his wife was poisoned to death, searched online about how to poison someone and was having an affair, Aurora police alleged in his arrest affidavit.James Craig, 45, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder Sunday, hours after his wife, Angela Craig, 43, was taken off life support and died.
