The man shot and killed by Denver police on Nov. 20 after chasing people in Commons Park with an AK-47 assault rifle and shooting at officers had more than 400 rounds of ammunition on him, Denver Police Department officials said Wednesday.Police responded to calls of a man with a rifle yelling at a group of people and chasing people near 16th and Platte streets at 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 20.Officers located the man, later identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner as 42-year-old Joshua Mitchell, sitting on a park bench with the rifle, Cmdr. A strip club on the city’s south side will shut down for two weeks in January after an undercover police operation determined that dancers there were engaged in prostitution.PT’s Showclub, at 1601 W. Evans Ave., will be closed between Jan. 2 and Jan. 15 under an agreement the club reached with the City Attorney’s Office on Monday. In that agreement, the club admits there was prostitution and solicitation of prostitution at PT’s one night this year.PT’s must also ban two former dancers/prostitutes from its club, require its manager take a course on human trafficking, and ensure there is video surveillance of all private dance areas. Another violation within the next year will result in a 20-day closure, the city said.This week’s settlement stems from a sting operation March 31 in which a dancer offered to have sex with an undercover Denver Police Department officer for $600. Santa Clara City Councilmember Anthony Becker is set to go to trial next year for charges related to leaking a confidential civil grand jury report to the San Francisco 49ers and lying about it.On Wednesday afternoon at the San Jose Hall of Justice, Becker’s attorney, public defender Christopher Montoya, asked Judge Daniel Nishigaya to not set a trial date, citing that they didn’t have all the discovery materials. OAKLAND — A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting a man outside a fast food restaurant after police identified him from surveillance footage, according to court records.James Wheeler, of Oakland, was charged Tuesday with murder in the shooting death of Johnny James Johnson Jr. in a Taco Bell parking lot in East Oakland on Nov. 21. Wheeler, an employee of UPS, was seen on video inside the Taco Bell wearing UPS clothing, and was later identified by one of his managers, authorities said.Wheeler has also been charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and two counts of being a felon in possession of firearms.
