As inflation rates continue to increase the cost of food and pandemic-era benefits slowly fade, nearly 25% of American adults are experiencing food insecurity, a new study from the Urban Institute revealed.Food insecurity indicates that a person lacks regular access to sufficient food for a healthy diet. People can experience food insecurity at different levels, ranging from mild to severe, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.The Urban Institute study showed that more adults reported experiencing food insecurity as the cost of food increased and pandemic-era food safety nets dwindled. Wade.The court ruled that a woman has the right under the state Constitution to receive an abortion to preserve her life if her doctor determines that continuing the pregnancy would endanger it due to a condition she has or is likely to develop during the pregnancy. SAN FRANCISCO — Nearly 10 years after he avoided prison in a child sex case that scandalized the Contra Costa theater community and Walnut Creek city hall, a Bay Area man was sentenced to six years behind bars for a new child pornography charge that resulted from a 2020 FBI undercover bust.Jason Pedroza, 37, of San Mateo, was sentenced to six years in federal prison. Pedroza pleaded guilty last November to a single count of possessing child pornography, and U.S. District Judge William Alsup handed down the sentence on March 8.In an apology letter, Pedroza described himself as a pornography addict who “relapsed” amid the COVID-19 pandemic, called off his marriage and became obsessed with online pornography.
