FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — McDonald’s and a franchise holder are at fault after a hot Chicken McNugget from a Happy Meal fell on a little girl's leg and caused second-degree burns. ST. LOUIS -- A woman has been arrested for the death of Brandon West, 28, of Spanish Lake, Missouri. DaiJa’h Jackson, 25, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action.Police were called to investigate a shooting in the 5900 block of Summit Place in St. Louis on May 9 at around 11 p.m. They found West lying in the street with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 20s was listed as the suspect at the time of the initial police report. Moving past controversy, Anheuser-Busch plans to recover losses Court documents state that West's sister and Jackson's sister agreed to meet for a fight. During the fight, West tried to intervene. A Colorado man was sentenced to life in prison by a Texas judge Thursday for killing an acquaintance and fellow Iraqi refugee four years ago.A Houston jury convicted Abbas Abdal Abed, 47, earlier this month in the 2019 stabbing death of 29-year-old Abdulrahman Haris, the Harris County (Texas) District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.Abed, an Uber driver in Colorado, fled to Houston in December 2019 after police believe he killed a 31-year-old woman at an extended-stay hotel in Sheridan. He was charged with first-degree murder and sexual assault. That case remains open.Both Abed and Haris came to the U.S. as refugees from Iraq, prosecutors said, settling in Houston.On Dec. 15, 2019, authorities say Haris gave Abed some money and was taking him to Walmart in southwest Houston. Three Santa Clarita Valley businesses were broken into overnight earlier this week, leaving owners with shattered storefronts and ransacked restaurants.Waffle Love along Newhall Ranch Road in Santa Clarita was broken into around 3 a.m. Thursday.Video shared by the business shows the burglar in a hoodie running in and running out in a matter of minutes. He got away with a cash register and a safe.Owner Boyd Bell said despite the fact that only petty cash was taken, the incident affects his restaurant because they have to close to clean up and deal with insurance.He said it’s “disheartening” to see mom-and pop-shops get hit.“It stinks. Workers Trapped after Construction Accident on Glendale AvenueGLENDALE, CA (May 12, 2023) – Wednesday morning, police responded to a work accident on Glendale Avenue that left at least 6 injured.According to the Glendale Fire Department deputy, they received the call at a movie studio at around 11:00 a.m., May 3rd.Furthermore, when they arrived at the scene, they found numbers of roof beams and trusses that had collapsed.Also, six workers got trapped in rubble on the site, and more than 100 crews and deputies were dispatched to clear out the scene and extricate the workers.Consequently, they were disengaged at around 1:30 p.m., and five were transported to the hospital.Luckily, none of the injured workers suffered significant injuries.
