Gloversville man convicted of murdering estranged wife

FONDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday, Michael Darling pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter for the murder of his estranged wife, Kristine Darling. Sentencing is scheduled for October 20. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office found the death suspicious and investigated the case with assistance from the New York State Police.Investigations resulted in a Grand Jury indictment on May 26, 2023, charging Darling with murder. Darling reportedly went into hiding but was apprehended in Mayfield on May 27, thanks to tips from members of the public. Darling faces 5-25 years in state prison. PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Pittsfield Police Department is continuing to investigate a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon. According to the police, a pick-up truck traveling north collided with a 2006 Subaru Forester traveling southbound. The driver and passenger of the Forester were transported to the Berkshire Medical Center for their injuries. ST. LOUIS -- Two people were shot during a large fight in Downtown St. Louis Sunday night. An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were both taken to the hospital for treatment.Officers were called to the 1500 block of Olive at around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Witnesses say that there was a large fight between two groups of people. Several people were firing their weapons during the altercation. NEW YORK (AP) — United States Steel Corp. said Sunday that it rejected a $7.3 billion buyout proposal from rival Cleveland Cliffs and was reviewing “strategic alternatives” after receiving several unsolicited offers.Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel said it rejected the offer because Cleveland-Cliffs was pushing it to accept the terms without being allowed to conduct proper due diligence.
