Alhambra police shoot person after alleged robbery

At least one officer with the Alhambra Police Department shot and wounded a person Thursday morning.The shooting in the 600 block of South Fremont Avenue began as a commercial robbery, police told KTLA.However, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which took over the investigation after the shooting, said the shooting occurred at approximately 5:37 a.m. at the intersection of South Meridian and West Commonwealth avenues.The suspect, an adult male, was wounded by gunfire and transported to a hospital in "unknown condition," the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.The investigation led to the closure of nearby Emery Park School on Thursday. OAKLAND — A man suffered fatal injuries Wednesday night in East Oakland when he was pinned between a car and a mini-van that were hit by a stolen SUV driven by someone who fled the scene on foot, police said.The identity of the man killed has not been released yet pending confirmation of his name and notification of his relatives. A security guard was attacked by a bear in the kitchen of a hotel at Colorado’s Aspen ski resort.The bear was later found and euthanized by state wildlife officers.The attack happened around 11 p.m. Monday at the St. Regis, near the base of the Aspen Mountain ski runs. A clip from surveillance video shows the bear wandering into the empty kitchen. Thirty seconds later, a guard comes in and surprises the bear, which rears up on its back feet and shoves the man, who falls to the floor. The bear then flees.The guard was taken to a hospital for treatment of scratches on his back.Officers from Colorado Parks and Wildlife arrived around midnight. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Two East Bay men were convicted in connection to a series of smash-and-grab robberies in San Francisco, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office announced Thursday. Delandro Belvine-Brown, 22, of Antioch, and Sean Raquel Jevonce Simin Jr., 24, of Richmond, were each sentenced to three years after pleading guilty in SF Superior Court.Belvine-Brown and Simon were part of an organized group which committed a series of smash-and-grab robberies at SF retail businesses that included Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters and Veo Optics.
