(KRON) – The California Department of Justice is launching an independent investigation into a police shooting that occurred Thursday night and resulted in one death, according to the Newark Police Department.  Suspects accused of killing 5-year-old girl believed they were shooting at rival gang car: DA Shortly after 4:30 p.m., members of the Newark and Fremont Police Departments were involved in a shooting in the 39000 block of Cedar Boulevard while attempting to take a carjacking suspect into custody. They walked up to the front door, passing the address that was posted on the home and illuminated by an exterior light, knocked on the door and announced themselves.While knocking twice more, the officers can be heard asking a dispatcher to confirm the address and to tell the caller to come to the door.
